Testimonials

During the past 8 months I have had the real pleasure to have Ewa as my personal shopper. She has an excellent eye for style and as we have become more acquainted she automatically knows what will appeal to me. The wonderful thing is that she will add several pieces I might not normally pick and I always love them! Covid 19 has been a challenge for everyone but I am so thankful for Ewa. She has been a lifesaver during a tough time and her wonderful attitude shows in the 20 photos she will send to see what appeals to me!  Patience is definitely her virtue. Thank you Ewa!!!!

I cannot say enough about this place and these people. The women at Switch have become friends; so helpful, kind, and so fun. Ewa knows my style EXACTLY. She knows what’s in my closet better than I do. She sends me texts when she sees something she knows I’d like, makes me try things on I’d never imagine, and she never gets it wrong. She even hand selected some great items, masked up, and left them on my doorstep during the first Covid shut down. Who does that anywhere else?! Love this place!

What do you like the most about the Switch concept?

I love the relationships we build with customers and how we are able to host everyone that comes into the store as if they we’re in our living room. Our goal is to make women happy and that’s what I love about Switch. That’s why we chose Switch as name. Women can come here and Switch their style and feel comfortable doing it.

Who is your favorite clothing designer?

Jean-Paul Gaultier has always been a favorite. He’s very dreamy and creative. He uses unusual and fine fabrics and presents his fashion as art. It transcends the material and fabrics. When you wear something of his, it doesn’t have to do as much with your body type as it is showing his art, his designs are limitless, he lives for the moment.

What is your favorite color?

It’s not what I’m wearing. My favorite color is kind of turquoise, it isn’t a color I wear a lot but for me it’s a symbol of freedom and that the sky is the limit. It’s a symbol of my independence. My favorite color to wear is black, it presents my style and sophistication. I feel very safe when I’m wearing black.

How does your personal taste and style help customers find the perfect outfits for them? How do you use your style to help customers find their own?

It depends. When a customer comes in, I look at what they’re wearing and always start there and try and match that style. It also depends on the relationship we have, and the one we build. I never push my own style on them but try and use my own style to help them find their own based on what they like and what they wear.

Do you believe that “Life is too short to blend in”

Oh yeah!!!!!

What’s most important when purchasing a new item: comfort, color, fit, style, uniqueness, or material?

For me it’s uniqueness. You don’t want all the clothing in your closet to look the same. You want to remember that this one unique item was purchased in a unique store, and that’s what Switch is for.

What goals do you set for yourself each day?

Happiness. To be happy, motivated, and never stop dreaming.

What led you to fashion?

The appreciation of beauty and the design process. I studied fashion merchandising and I wanted to be a part of women’s lives and be able to help them make a changes they need to grow.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not with your Switch family?

Be with my family, hiking, reading, and exploring. I explore nature and find inspiration for my everyday life. I love to create something from nothing. I love to travel for Switch and find brand new styles and designs. Switch has given me the opportunity to travel and has opened doors I never knew existed.

What do you like the most about the Switch concept?

That anything goes, no rules! We look at women as individuals and want them to have a great experience in the store and come out of their box, we want to teach people that everything isn’t black and white!

Who is your favorite clothing designer?

I wear a lot of Eileen Fisher for basics, her designs fit women of all body types and the fabrics are very comfortable, however after working at Switch I’ve fallen in love with Israeli designers like Gershon Bom. I actually had pieces In my closet that I’ve always adored which I didn’t know where from Israel.

What is your favorite color?

My favorite colors in the world are orange and black. Probably because I grew up in Corvallis and my father coached football at Oregon State so that probably had a huge influence on my taste.

How does your personal taste and style help customers find the perfect outfits for them? How do you use your style to help customers find their own?

So I’m in my 60s, when I have a customer that’s close to my age and body type, it’s very easy for me to dress them in clothing that I know is comfortable but I can take them to the next level or dial it back to whatever their personal style is.

Do you believe that “Life is too short to blend in”

Oh totally! I’ve never been a person that wanted to blend in. I’ve never loved the idea that people should act, look, or be a certain way. I think everyone should be free to be themselves and be comfortable in their own skin, which is difficult for many women including myself. It takes years to let go of what society has pushed on us.

What’s most important when purchasing a new item: comfort, color, fit, style, uniqueness, or material?

Comfort is the very first thing. You have to be comfortable in whatever you’re putting on. All the other stuff falls in place if the comfort is there, and comfort isn’t always about size, it’s also about attitude.

What goals do you set for yourself each day?

Get out of bed! After that, everything’s a bonus.

What led you to fashion?

Probably my mother in the sense that she was always very stylish and very elegant. I’ve always loved clothes and been a shopper and she was not.

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not with your Switch family?

I travel with my husband whose a musician. I still have season tickets and go to most Oregon State Football games. And I love to entertain and spend time with friends and family.

What do you like the most about the Switch concept?

That the clothes and accessories are unique. Out of the box concepts. Not
following the norm.

Who is your favorite clothing designer?

I grew up admiring the classic designs of Dior, Balenciaga, and Chanel, but
now I love all new independent designers.

What is your favorite color?

Black and white are my favorite, but I do venture towards bright crayon
hues.

Do you believe that “Life is too short to blend in”?

I believe life is too short not to be your incredible self.

What is most important when purchasing a new item: comfort,
color, fit, style, uniqueness, or material?

Fit is the most key factor when purchasing an item. Otherwise, you will
never wear it.

What goals do you set for yourself each day?

To make the best of the day and most importantly to be happy and healthy.

What led you to fashion?

I grew up spending time with and admiring my aunt who designed and made
clothes. Specifically bridal and evening gowns. She studies her skills in Franch
couture house and was self-made.

What do you like to do for fun when you are not with your Switch
family?

I love my quiet time as much as I love my social groups. I enjoy cooking,
relaxing in the sun, reading, tasting new foods and little gardening.

Who is your favorite clothing designer?

My favorites designers presently are Gershon Bram, Alembica, Mao Mam, Issey Miyake and Vera Wang although I have had several favorite designers throughout the years such as Norma Kamali, Kanzai Yamamoto, Donna Karen (DKNY) and Wayne Clark.

What is your favorite color?

My favorite color to wear is black and add a splash of color (yellow, fuchsia or lime green) with accessories and/or shoes.

How does your personal taste and style help customers find the perfect outfit for them? How do you use your style to help customers find their own?

What a person wears should make them feel comfortable inside and show the world a little of who they are and who they want to be. A nice chat and a good variety of clothes will help.

Do you believe that “Life is too short to blend in?”

Definitely yes. I want to feel good in what I’m wearing and I feel other people should do the same. Be who you are and what you’re comfortable in being.

What’s most important when purchasing a new item: comfort, color, for uniqueness or material?

Uniqueness, comfort, material & color are the order that I will usually follow. You have to feel fabulous in what you’re wearing!

What goals do you set for yourself each day?

To be happy is of the utmost importance.

What led you to fashion?

I have been interested in fashion most of my life. I loved shopping with my mother as a little girl. I began in retail during my college years at University of Oregon. I worked at “Gentle Woman” (a small boutique in Eugene) that was exquisitely unique. After graduation, I moved back to Portland & worked at “Simi’s Boutique” and “Jayne Marie Boutique” (both very hip fashionable shops).

My next venture was Executive Director for the Japan-America Society of Oregon (JASO). I traveled to Japan many times, the country’s fashion designers fascinated me and eventually I was able to organize events/fashion shows exhibiting designs from Japan. Now at Switch, I’m extremely happy to be in fashion again!

What do you like to do for fun when you’re not with your Switch family?

Traveling, music, sports, gardening & being with family and friends.
